Features Perugino
Documents of Perugino is an APP that makes available to scholars the catalog of all the documentary sources relating to the life and works of the painter Pietro Vannucci (1446-1523), known as Perugino, present in the State Archives of Perugia and its sections, in the historical Umbrian municipal, ecclesiastical and brotherhood archives. The ownership of the APP lies with the Archival and Bibliographic Superintendence of Umbria, which has indicated the form and contents and which has all rights on the texts and images published. The "catalogue" consists of 308 documents and one volume (Fiorenzo Canuti, "Nella Patria di Perugino") for a total of 4,078 cataloged and digitized documents, which cover a historical period ranging from 1469 to 1835.The oldest documents, on parchment and/or paper, are written by hand, some in Latin and others in Italian, the most recent are printed; the language is predominantly notarial/bureaucratic.For each document there is the location in which it is located, the place of conservation, the signature, the topic, the dating, the summary (a brief summary), as well as other information such as the type of document, the format, the writing support , any related works, any characters mentioned, bibliographical and generic notes. The acquired images are then linked to each document. On all pages there is, normally at the top right, contextual help to accompany the user in navigation. The icons/buttons, when necessary, are also duly illustrated. The APP is available in Italian and English, although, for the latter language, the localization concerns exclusively the navigation tools; no catalog text has been translated. The APP presents itself with a first page where, in addition to any help, it is only possible to choose the language. The next page allows you to access the actual catalogue.Users can filter documents by location, storage location, topic, document type, writing medium, cited characters, but also without specifying any filter and in this case they will access the entire catalog. The catalog opens with a list, organized into rows and divided into columns, which shows the most significant data relating to the documents corresponding to the selections made in the previous step.
At the head of the list there is a header which illustrates, on the left side, the contents of the different columns and on the right side provides explanations, via mouse click or touch, on the functions of the different icons/buttons that accompany, in each row, the descriptive texts. For each document, using these icons/buttons, it is possible to access further details in pop-up mode. The last button/icon opens the page containing the scanned images and the related thumbnails of the document in question.
All the icons/buttons available within it are duly illustrated as mentioned above.By closing any open page containing the images it is possible to move on to examining a subsequent document. It is always possible to return to the previous step, using the icon at the top left of each page, and reformulate a new selection and so on.
